Client Goal:

The project required a complete mechanical system capable of meeting the demands of a large, multi-bathroom home while maintaining exceptional efficiency and reliability.

Scope of Work

  • Heating System: Installed two Remeha Quinta Pro 65 kW commercial gas boilers for powerful, efficient heating.

  • Hot Water System: Fitted two Oso Powercyl 300 L unvented cylinders for consistent, high-capacity hot water supply.

  • Water Pressure Management: Integrated a Duty Point Scuba Tank to maintain stable pressure across all outlets.

  • Underfloor Heating: Installed a Maincor UFH system throughout, with zoned manifolds for individual control.

  • Radiators: Installed cast iron radiators across upper levels for traditional style and responsive heating.

  • Bathrooms: Completed four luxury bathrooms with concealed plumbing and premium sanitaryware.

  • Basement Drainage: Installed dual foul and surface water sump chambers with automatic pump systems.

  • Pipework: Completed all plumbing using Geberit Mapress copper pipework for durability and precision.

  • Gas Installation: Installed a TracPipe stainless-steel gas system for commercial-grade safety and efficiency.

  • Commissioning: Full system testing, flushing, balancing, and handover in line with consultant specifications.

The Process

1. Design & Coordination

  • Working closely with the M&E consultant, we developed a detailed mechanical design that included load, pressure, and flow calculations to achieve optimal system balance.
    Plantroom layouts were coordinated to ensure efficient use of space and allow clear maintenance access for future service.

2. First Fix Installation

  • Installed Geberit Mapress copper pipework for all heating and water systems.

  • Laid Maincor underfloor heating loops prior to screeding and connected zoned manifolds.

  • Installed TracPipe gas system feeding both Remeha boilers.

  • Completed first-fix plumbing for four bathrooms with precision pipe routing and concealed runs.

  • Installed basement sump chambers for foul and surface water, with dual-pump configurations and alarm systems.

3. Second Fix & Commissioning

  • Connected Remeha boilers, Oso cylinders, and Duty Point Scuba Tank.

  • Installed cast iron radiators, UFH manifolds, and all second-fix bathroom fixtures.

  • Conducted pressure testing, flushing, and balancing to ensure full system performance.

  • Completed final commissioning and documentation to M&E consultant and client approval.

Challenges & Solutions


Hybrid System Integration:

Coordinating large boilers with extensive hot water storage required hydraulic separation and advanced control setup. Collaboration with the M&E consultant ensured optimal sequencing and performance.

Basement Drainage:

Dual sump chambers were designed and installed to manage both foul and surface water effectively, each with automatic dual-pump systems and alarm protection.

Commercial Gas Compliance:

The TracPipe flexible gas system ensured robust and compliant installation within confined service areas.

Space Management:

Despite extensive mechanical plant, the plantroom layout was optimised for access, serviceability, and future maintenance.
