Scope of Work
Washrooms: Installed 17 new washrooms, each featuring wall-hung WCs and basins with concealed pipework for improved hygiene and easier cleaning.
Hot Water System: Supplied and installed a Telford Tempest 300-litre unvented hot water cylinder to provide constant, high-pressure hot water to all washrooms.
Pipework Installation: Installed new hot and cold water distribution throughout, with concealed pipe runs to serve all washroom layouts.
Drainage: Upgraded and re-routed waste and soil pipework to suit the new washroom arrangement.
Testing & Commissioning: Carried out pressure testing, flushing, and commissioning of all systems to verify performance and reliability.
Finishing & Handover: Coordinated with tiling, partitioning, and decoration trades to complete the project to a high standard and on programme.
The Process
1. Planning & Coordination
We began with a detailed review of the school layout and washroom designs, working with contractors and site managers to phase the works efficiently.
With only eight weeks available, the schedule was meticulously planned so that each washroom could be completed, tested, and handed over on time.
2. First Fix Installation
Installed new concealed pipework for hot, cold, and waste services.
Set out and fitted frames for wall-hung WCs and basins.
Installed and connected the Telford Tempest 300 L unvented hot water cylinder to the school’s main supply and circulation system.
3. Second Fix & Commissioning
Fitted all sanitaryware — wall-hung WCs, basins, taps, and accessories.
Tested the hot-water system for pressure, flow, and temperature stability.
Completed flushing, chlorination, and final commissioning to meet hygiene and safety standards.
Delivered a comprehensive handover and system demonstration to the school’s maintenance team.
Challenges & Solutions
Tight Programme:
With only eight weeks, progress scheduling and trade coordination were critical. A phased delivery plan ensured no delays and progressive completion of each washroom.
School Environment:
All work was completed during school holidays to prevent disruption. Strict safety and quality controls maintained compliance with educational standards.
System Demand:
The Telford Tempest unvented cylinder was carefully sized and installed to handle simultaneous use across multiple washrooms, maintaining constant pressure and temperature.
